Report Alleges Abuses Against Palestinian Children in Israeli Detention
The findings suggest that approximately 350 Palestinian children are currently being held in Israeli detention, including cases involving both pre-trial detention and administrative detention without formal charges. The report also raises allegations that detainees have been exposed to physical violence, lengthy interrogations, and restrictive living conditions such as overcrowding and limited contact with family members.
It further claims that access for humanitarian organizations to detention facilities has been restricted, making independent monitoring of conditions more difficult.
In response to these concerns, Save the Children has called for an end to the detention of Palestinian minors and urged that independent observers, including the International Committee of the Red Cross, be granted full access to facilities.
Separately, Belgian Member of the European Parliament Marc Botenga criticized the European Union’s stance, stating:
“By maintaining privileged relations with Israel, the European Union is also complicit in this,” he said on social media platform X.
According to figures cited in the same context, more than 9,500 Palestinians are currently held in Israeli prisons, including women and minors. Human rights organizations on both sides have previously reported allegations of severe mistreatment, including claims of torture, starvation, and lack of medical care, with some reports indicating that detainee deaths have occurred in custody.
