IDF detains forty Palestinians throughout occupied West Bank

(MENAFN) At least 40 Palestinians were detained by Israeli forces during raids across the occupied West Bank on Wednesday, according to the Palestinian Prisoner Society. Among those arrested were a child and several former prisoners. The raids targeted multiple cities, including Salfit, Jenin, Bethlehem, Ramallah, Nablus, Tulkarem, and Hebron.

The prisoners’ rights group reported that Israeli forces stormed homes, committed abusive acts against residents, and vandalized property. Witnesses said special Israeli units, supported by military reinforcements, entered the eastern neighborhood of Jenin at dawn, turning a house into a temporary military outpost. In response, the Palestinian Education Ministry suspended schools in Jenin to ensure student safety.

Palestinian figures indicate that nearly 21,000 people have been detained in the West Bank since the start of the Gaza genocide in October 2023. In Ramallah, illegal Israeli settlers reportedly burned two Palestinian-owned vehicles and sprayed racist slogans on walls.

The Palestinian Red Crescent Society reported three injuries during an Israeli raid in the Old City of Nablus, where clashes erupted as residents threw stones while soldiers responded with live fire and tear gas. The Israeli army has increased its operations in the West Bank since the outbreak of the Gaza genocide last October.
